"The Impact of an Addicted Person on Employers and Co-workers"
By Bruce Cotter
The concessions and anxieties co-workers must endure to work side-by-side
with an alcoholic are endless. Alcoholics will lose business and cost the
company profits, they can cause resentments among employees that lessen
productivity, hurt morale and may cause the departure of valued employees.
Their behavior may embarrass or compromise the company. They may have
excessive medical claims that result in increased insurance premiums and
they may well cost a boss or two their jobs because of a departments'
perceived inefficiency.
